ABOUT

Canine beautician and owner of Takoda Dog Grooming, Beth Sayer and her sidekick Fizz

I've been in the grooming industry since 2013 starting out as a bathing assistant in a local salon. I completed a two year apprenticeship in dog grooming with a local dog grooming salon and college. I then went on to complete a 25 day intermediate dog grooming course under another local groomer which I completed in 2015.

I then took a business course with The Princes Trust and the National Enterprise Scheme Association and completed an 11 day Advanced grooming course in 2016.

In July 2019 I completed a Level 3 Open College Network diploma in dog grooming at award winning academy KJG Dog Grooming Academy in Devon, and become an officially qualified dog groomer with a recognised industry qualification.

In February 2020 I completed my City and Guilds level 2 dog grooming qualification at another award winning academy, Canine Design Academy in Shepton Mallet, another recognised industry qualification, and am currently undertaking the City and Guilds level 3 qualification there which was started in September 2020. I have already undertaken two of four of my practical exams for this course which both I passed with a distinction!

Back in September 2015 I opened my own home based salon, Takoda Dog Grooming (known originally as Riverview Dog Grooming up to 2021), with the sole purpose to provide 1-2-1 professional styles and haircuts tailored to the owners requests, created with love and care towards each individual dog, placing their health and well being above everything else and providing excellent customer service. As you may have already guessed, Takoda Dog Grooming was named after my kennel affix, a little nod to Fizz, whom I would never have become a dog groomer if it wasn't for her.

I regularly attend many seminars and top up training days across the South West of England to keep up to date on the ever changing skills and styles of the dog grooming industry.

I have recently developed a keen interest in competing in grooming competitions to increase my knowledge and skills in the industry. Please see my Groomer's Spotlight profile for a list of seminars I have attended as well as achievements and qualifications I hold: https://www.thegroomersspotlight.com/beth-sayer

Hi, I'm Beth, an award winning groomer with 7 years experience in the grooming industry, grooming from the age of 19. Dogs have always been my passion from a very young age and I always knew I wanted to work with animals. My past pets have included mice, fish, guinea pigs, hens, a hamster and budgerigars. I currently own a 7 year old Bernese mountain dog, Fizz, who is the logo of Takoda Dog Grooming and an 12 year old budgie named Cody.

In my spare time, I show Fizz at Championship level under my Kennel Club approved affix Takodabern, earning many placings and qualifying her for Crufts for life! I hope to breed and continue to exhibit this breed in the future.
